Clark Fenton - Managing Partner & CIO

Clark is the former co-Chief Investment Officer of Permal, a multi-manager alternative-investment firm. Clark joined Permal after its purchase, in March 2013, of Fauchier Partners, where he had been the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for business strategy and management. He also oversaw strategy allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction as a member of the Investment Committee. He joined the firm in 2003 to build its Risk Management function before becoming co-Chief Investment Officer in 2007. Previously, Clark worked at Morgan Stanley on the Equity Arbitrage desk within Equity Derivatives, trading special situations with hedge-fund clients. Prior to that, he helped manage the firm's hedge-fund lending risk within the Prime Brokerage division. Clark began his career trading fixed-income securities for Montgomery Securities in San Francisco.

Clark has a BA from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

CHARLES CROWSON - Partner, HEAD OF TRADING

Charles previously ran the London office of Mason Capital Management, where he worked for ten years. His role involved trading event and special situation strategies across equity, equity derivatives, credit, and fixed income. Prior to this he had trading roles at Elgin Capital and Tisbury Capital. Charles started his career in the equity derivatives department at JP Morgan. 

Charles has an MA in History from the University of Cambridge.

CHRISTOPHER FAWCETT - PARTNER, INVESTMENTS

Christopher was previously a member of the Investment Committee of Permal from 2013 to 2016. Before Permal, he co-founded Fauchier Partners in 1994 where he successively held the position of Chief Investment Officer, Chief Executive and Senior Partner. Prior to Fauchier Partners he gained experience in the securities industry with Morgan Grenfell, the Duménil Group and Euris SA. He is currently a director of Mirabaud Asset Management Ltd, having previously been Chairman of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), a director of the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) and a director of the CFA Society of the UK.

Christopher has an MA from the University of Oxford, an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Mark Shaw - Partner, Investments

Mark was previously a Portfolio Manager at Permal and prior to that was an Investment Analyst at Fauchier Partners from 2006 to 2013. At Fauchier Partners Mark covered all investment strategies and oversaw the set-up of the New York office (2007-2009). Mark began his career at Morgan Stanley working in Investment Management.

Mark has an MA from the University of St Andrews and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

David Woodhouse - Partner, Investments

David joined Permal after its purchase of Fauchier Partners in March 2013, working first as a Due Diligence executive and then as a consultant. During his twelve-year tenure at Fauchier David played a variety of business and investment roles. He was Chief Financial Officer from 2001 to 2004, at which point he became Chief Due Diligence Officer with power of veto over the firm’s manager selection. Before Fauchier David was a Senior Manager, specialising in closed-end and alternative funds, at Ernst & Young and RSM Robson Rhodes. He was Chief Author of AIMA’s Guide to Sound Practices for Hedge Fund Valuation (2007).

David has an MA and PhD from the University of Cambridge and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Kelly Park - Investments

Kelly was previously an Investment Risk Analyst at Permal from 2013 to 2016, specialising in long/short equity funds and multi-strategy portfolios. Prior to Permal, she was a Quantitative Analyst at Fauchier Partners, from 2010 to 2013. At Fauchier, Kelly focused on portfolio-level analysis and special projects, such as emerging manager analysis and development of performance analytics tools. She began her career at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. Kelly was the Founder and Chairwoman of the Korean UK Finance Association from 2014 to 2016 and now acts as an advisor.

Kelly has a BSc and an MSc from CASS Business School.

Praveen Kanakamedala - Partner, COO, CRO & CCO

Praveen manages Operations, Risk and Compliance for Agilis. He was previously the Global Head of Risk Management and Chair of the Risk Committee at Permal from 2013 to 2015. Praveen was also a member of the Permal Risk, Compliance and Operations Committee and helped oversee the re-domiciliation of the firm’s US$ 9.4 billion single manager ICAV platform to Dublin. He was previously Head of Risk Management at Fauchier Partners between 2007 and 2013. Before Fauchier, Praveen was at Harris Alternatives, a Chicago-based investment firm, where he was responsible for building risk-management tools and hedging market risk in the portfolios.

Praveen has an MS from Illinois Tech and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Galina Pendleton - Partner, CFO

Galina was previously Finance Director of Cube Capital and Finance Director of Fauchier Partners, where she worked between 2004 and 2013. At Fauchier Partners Galina was responsible for managing the Finance Department and chaired the firm’s Finance Audit and Treasury Committee. Galina began her career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Galina has a BA from the University of Dundee and an MA from Kiev State University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.


CHRIS WELSH - PARTNER

Chris manages Strategic Business Development and Distribution at Agilis. He was previously Group CEO of Mako, the London-based global derivatives trading firm, from 2008 to 2016 before moving into the role of Chairman. During this time he was responsible for developing the core trading business, building out an asset management group and leading several corporate transactions. Chris joined Mako in 2001 as a proprietary trader focusing on Risk Arb and Credit Driven strategies and became a strategic adviser to the CEO in 2002. In 2003, Chris set up and led an OTC and structured equity sales business. He started his career at Morgan Stanley before joining Credit Suisse.

Chris has a BA from Heriot-Watt University and is a Chartered Management Accountant ACMA

Tiffany Parsons - Head of Client Services

Tiffany was previously a Proposal Specialist at Investec Asset Management. Before Investec, she was an AVP in the Institutional Business Development team at Permal from 2013 and 2016. Prior to this, she worked at Fauchier Partners from 2005 to 2013 in a number of roles in Client Services and Marketing.

Tiffany has a BA from the University of Manchester and an MA from UCL.


Advisory Board

Steve Galbraith

Steve is a Managing Member of Kindred Capital, the successor firm to Herring Creek Capital. Previously, he spent a decade as a Partner at Maverick Capital where he Chaired the firm’s Management Advisory Committee. Before joining Maverick, Steve was the Chief Investment Officer at Morgan Stanley where he was the top-ranked investment strategist on Wall Street in the Institutional Investor research poll. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a Partner at Sanford Bernstein where he was a highly ranked analyst in both the packaged goods industry and the financial services sector. From 1998 to 2008, Steve was an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University Business School, where he taught securities analysis. Steve serves on the Board of Trustees of Tufts University and the Board of Directors of Narragansett Brewing Company, Pzena Investment Management, Said Holdings Limited and the Success Charter Network. He was also previously appointed by the US Treasury as an Advisor to the Office of Financial Research. He received his BA (summa cum laude) from Tufts University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.


Ken Lee

Ken is Director of Investments at Carnegie Corporation of New York, Andrew Carnegie’s foundation focused on international peace and security, democracy and civic engagement, primary and secondary education in the United States, and African higher education. As the Corporation’s Director of Investments, Ken co-leads its portfolio strategy for marketable investments, which include long-only, absolute return, and fixed income asset classes. As part of this role, Ken serves as the primary lead on the Corporation’s developed markets mandates. Ken also manages the Corporation’s venture capital and growth equity activities in private markets. Prior to joining Carnegie, Ken served as a senior investment analyst in New York and London at Fauchier Partners. Previously, Ken worked as an investment associate at Horsley Bridge Partners, a private equity fund-of-funds manager, in San Francisco and London. Ken began his career as an investment banking analyst in the San Francisco office of Robertson Stephens, a boutique investment bank focused on growth companies. Ken holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from Yale College.


Robert Tishman (“Tish”)

Tish is co-founder and Chairman of Lightkeeper LLC, a Portfolio intelligence and reporting platform for the hedge fund industry. Prior to Lightkeeper, Tish was a co-founder and Chairman of Tamale Software, Inc. until the sale to Advent Software in October of 2008. He was also a co-founder and Portfolio Manager of 033 Asset Management (US$ 0.5 billion) a long / short equity hedge fund. Tish has held management positions throughout the financial services industry over the last 25 years. Prior to founding 033 and Tamale, Tish held senior management roles at both Robertson Stephens and Montgomery Securities. Tish currently serves on many corporate and charitable boards including: 24 Services, Phase Capital, Potomus Trading, Tinyhood, and Team Impact. He graduated from Tufts University where he currently serves on the Board of Advisors.
